Cliff Barns
We don’t know about you, but we have been on quite a few weekends away in the UK over the years, we’ve been in the Cotswolds for friend’s birthdays, Liverpool for hen dos (yeah we did, and we LOVED it), and Suffolk for general any-excuse catch ups. As we get older our friends seem to be dispersed around the country so meeting up is a complex operation, and usually takes place wherever we can all drive to within two or three hours. This weekend we headed to Cliff Barns in Norfolk, near Narborough, before you ask, yes Cliff Barns is the name of a character on Dallas! Cliff Barns is also an 8 bedroom converted barn that sleeps 16 in the beautiful English countryside.
The decor is lots of fun, with it’s English country house, meets Texan ranch inspired theme, with a few 60s inspired twists on top. It really is fun place to stay in! If you’ve ever been away with lots of people before it can feel like you’re all living on top of each other, however with the barn centred around a feature garden, complete with it’s own fountain, hot tub, and table tennis, there are no creaky floorboards or paper thin walls making it feel very comfortable. We also took four dogs, a Corgi, Beagle, and two Black Labradors, for those dog people amongst you.
We made the most of the house and spent lot of time catching up in the two receptions rooms and the hot tub, however we also drove to picturesque Wells-Next-The-Sea, and near by is the beautiful beaches of Cromer. Closer afield you can walk through Thetford Forrest, visit the market town of Swaffham or investigate the beautiful gardens of Narborough Hall. If you haven’t visited this area of Norfolk yet, we highly recommend it!
Shaun Clarkson and Russell Hall are the two men behind Cliff Barns also have another country getaway in Snettisham, North Norfolk, called Carrington House. We are definitely lining that one up for someone else’s birthday plans. LOOK AT THE WALLPAPER. Where have you stayed with friends and had a great time? Let us know in the comments!
