Festive Hair Accessories
I know I’m not the only person who wanders round the high street picking up and putting down various hair accessories thinking ‘yes I like them, but I would I wear them?’ As I get older, I seem to be very lazy with my hair, rather than take a risk with things I tend to stick to what I know suits me - and where is the fun in that?! As it’s Christmas I thought it about time I finally road tested all those pretty things my inner magpie lusts after, all in name of research on your behalf, you understand. The lovely hair stylist Alice Lindsay came to work her magic, showing me just how easy it was. Get ready to add some extra sparkle to your Christmas outfits this year!

Eden Embellished Hair Band, £36 | Anthropologie
Before you start sticking butterfly clips in your hair like it’s 1997, you’re gonna need to prep it, it helps the accessories stay in and prevent your hair from looking flat. To start with, Alice created some soft hair waves with the GHD Classic Curl Wand (Santa if you’re reading…). Turns out every hair stylists secret weapon is dry shampoo, I knew it! Alice used Colab Extreme Volume Dry Shampoo and sprayed in at the root to add body and grit for the accessories to cling to. To add definition and texture to the curl, Alice added Ouai Wave Spray. For shorter hair, you can use volumising powder sprinkled into the hair, again to create texture to give the hair accessories something to hold onto. Basically clean, neat hair is out, and dirty messy hair is in - I knew I liked Alice for a reason!
